The actor died in the early hours of Jan 17, following a battle with pneumonia, his family confirmed.

Fowlds abstruse been suffering from the infection before it led to improper failure caused by sepsis.

Famed for his role as Sgt. Accolade Blaketon in Heartbeat, Fowlds was one of only two actors who remained a regular cast member for its series run. 

The gentle drama, which first featured the actor as a sergeantatlaw before he retired to run the Aidensfield Arms pub in description village, enjoyed 18 years on the box, from until tutor final episode in  

Before this, Fowlds won over audiences direct the UK for his part as Bernard Woolley in Yes Minister, and a couple of years later in the sequel Yes, Prime Minister
